SAS DOCTORS REVIEW — VERSION 34 CHANGE LOG 18 October 2026 1. HOMEPAGE Replaced the repeated lower Latest News block with a dedicated recognition and progression toolkit introduction. The lead news selection and moving news strip remain. Replaced the inaccurate 'Eight routes' heading with 'Connected professional learning and support'. 2. NEWS AND ARTICLE NAVIGATION Added a linked three-part navigation strip to Latest News, Analysis & Reviews and All Articles. Explained the distinction between sourced news briefs, original interpretation and the complete article archive. Renamed the archive page heading to All articles, retaining its existing /news address. Updated the standard Analysis menu label; existing custom navigation is preserved. 3. CONTEXTUAL CLINICALEDU LINKS Added topic-specific links from Leadership in Practice, Appraisal & Revalidation and Professional Regulation to the ClinicalEdu course and learner guide. The toolkit also links to ClinicalEdu for development needs. Existing homepage promotion and dedicated ClinicalEdu page remain. 4. NEW SAS RECOGNITION & PROGRESSION TOOLKIT Address: /sas-recognition-progression Includes: - A choice of UK nation and discussion purpose. - Current role, scope, applicable criteria and meeting details. - Six evidence areas: clinical responsibility, education, leadership, improvement, teamwork and development. - Contribution, evidence reference, evidence status and gaps for each area. - A specific request for a decision or support. - Up to ten actions, each with an owner and target date. - A live meeting brief with clearly marked blank fields. - Download as plain text, or print/save as PDF through the browser. - Links to relevant existing guides and primary sources. - An illustrative worked example, explicitly labelled. No eligibility score is produced. Specialist grade and specialist registration are distinguished. The six areas are editorial organising prompts, not an official assessment framework. 5. PRIVACY AND DISCOVERY Toolkit entries are held in page memory only: no submission, automatic storage or new account. Readers are prompted to download before closing or refreshing and to use anonymised evidence references. Added discovery routes through the homepage, Careers, route finder, standard Careers menu, footer, search and sitemap. Added /updates with a downloadable change log. 6. VALIDATION AND LIMITS TypeScript check, production build and focused tests of the generated brief and evidence-completion count. Source review of responsive layout, labelled controls and print stylesheet. Interactive browser and visual verification are unavailable in this session. Primary-source links checked 18 October 2026. Current national and local arrangements must be confirmed for formal applications. 7. SCOPE No existing news or review article removed. No new user data tables or changes to ClinicalEdu access controls. A one-time navigation update preserves unrelated custom menu choices and subsequent editor changes. Later proposals remain separate future work: employer SAS development self-review, community hospital leadership resource centre and SAS practice case studies.
