Six support functions to identify

01

Medical workforce

Contract, grade, job plan, payroll escalation and formal employment processes.

02

SAS Advocate

Recognition, wellbeing, dignity, themes and signposting—not therapy, legal advice or union representation.

03

Education and appraisal

SAS education lead, appraiser, responsible officer, study leave and NIMDTA development routes.

04

LNC or union

Collective and individual employment representation, contractual questions and local negotiation.

05

Safety and speaking up

Incident reporting, safeguarding, governance, complaints and the trust’s concern-raising process.

06

Health and wellbeing

Occupational health, employee assistance, GP, confidential support and urgent routes.

Map the regional pathway

Clinical geography

Know which services are local, which are regional, where patients transfer, how advice is obtained and who remains responsible while transfer is pending.

Employment geography

Confirm normal and additional work sites, travel time, cross-site cover, parking, accommodation where relevant and the escalation route for unsafe gaps.
